Crabapple's New Food Truck Thursdays Have Three Nights Left This Year

The City of Milton started its new food truck series with a dinner problem most households will know. In its October launch announcement, the city pictured a crew that "can't settle on a cuisine," or a big group for whom "a mega-size reservation is impossible, especially taking into account different tastes, dietary requirements, and the like." Its answer is Wanderlust Food Truck Fest. The series came to downtown Crabapple this fall, and it is set up differently from a standing weekly market. It has a fixed number of nights, it rotates the trucks every time, and it ends in December.

As of Thursday, November 5, two of the five nights are over. The three that remain are worth planning around one at a time, because the trucks change from one Thursday to the next.

Five Thursdays, Then It Stops

The city called Wanderlust "a totally new, exciting concept for Milton" and set the whole run before the first truck arrived. Every night runs 4 to 8 p.m.:

  1. Thursday, October 15. The opening night.
  2. Thursday, October 29. The second night, now past.
  3. Thursday, November 12. The only November night.
  4. Thursday, December 3.
  5. Thursday, December 10. The last night on the calendar.

The city's own announcements describe this as its "2026 season." The posted schedule stops after December 10, so as things stand, three Thursday evenings are left before the year ends.

The event is free to attend, Appen Media reported in its preview of the opening night. You pay only for what you order. The City of Milton is listed as host on the Eventeny event page, so this is a municipal series. A restaurant group or a property owner is not running it.

Two Lots, One Evening

Most food truck events put everything in one place. Wanderlust splits the trucks into two groups at two different spots in downtown Crabapple.

The first group parks in the lot at Market District Crabapple, 12655 Birmingham Hwy. Live music is planned at this site. The second group sets up on the gravel area behind the Green at Crabapple Market, close to the cornhole games on the Green.

The city's announcements call these the "East Side" and "West Side," but the labels flip between the launch post and the calendar listings. The physical sites are the same every time. If you are meeting friends, say "the Market District lot" or "behind the Green." That will get everyone to the same place more reliably than the side names.

Because there are two sites, each Thursday is really two separate lineups. Eventeny lists separate trucks for each location. The city expects "more than a dozen alternatives" across the two lots each night. A group that cannot agree on dinner can split up, with one half at a Market District truck and the other at a truck behind the Green, and meet back up afterward.

A Different Lineup Each Night

The rotation is what makes the remaining dates worth tracking one by one. The city says each night "will be a little different, with food trucks being rotated." A truck you liked on October 15 may not be back. A truck missing from the first two nights could show up on November 12.

The lineups are also still being filled. On October 22, the city put out a call for food truck vendors. It invited operators to apply through Eventeny for the November 12, December 3 and December 10 nights, and said that "the more food options, the more delicious reasons for visitors to come." As of this week, the calendar listings for the November and December nights still say the exact lineup is "still being finalized."

In practice, this means nobody can promise what will be on any given Thursday until close to the date. Last month's recommendation may not hold. If you have a specific truck in mind, check the city's event calendar and the Eventeny page shortly before you go.

November Has One Night

Milton's November calendar is short. Two days after this post goes up, the city holds its free Veterans Day breakfast on Saturday, November 7, at 9 a.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at 2006 Heritage Walk. Seating is limited, and the city requires an RSVP. Details are on the Veterans Breakfast page.

The following Thursday, November 12, is the only Wanderlust night this month. The next night after that is December 3, three weeks later. If you want a food truck dinner in Crabapple before the holiday season starts, November 12 is the night.

Eight Days in December

December is where the series lines up with the rest of Crabapple's calendar. Its last two nights fall on either side of the city's main holiday event:

Date Event Time Location
Thursday, Dec. 3 Wanderlust Food Truck Fest 4 to 8 p.m. Market District Crabapple lot and gravel area behind the Green at Crabapple Market
Saturday, Dec. 5 Christmas in Crabapple and tree lighting 2 to 6 p.m., tree lighting at dusk Broadwell Pavilion, 12615 Broadwell Road
Thursday, Dec. 10 Wanderlust Food Truck Fest, last scheduled night 4 to 8 p.m. Market District Crabapple lot and gravel area behind Crabapple Market

That is three city-run evenings in downtown Crabapple within eight days. Christmas in Crabapple runs on a Saturday afternoon, and the tree is lit at dusk instead of at a set hour. The Thursday food truck nights sit on the weeknights before and after it. Households that come out for the tree lighting have a Thursday on each side to come back for dinner. December 10 is the last chance for the year.

When the Trucks Aren't Enough

Some members of a group will want a table and a menu. Others will still be talking when the trucks pack up at 8 p.m. The restaurants around the two lots cover both cases, and their hours run later than the festival. These are the hours each business lists on its own site, which can change, so check before you count on a late table:

  • Olde Blind Dog, 12650 Crabapple Road, lists hours of 11 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Thursday. That makes it the latest option on a Wanderlust night.
  • B&B Tavern Crabapple, 12620 Crabapple Road, Suite 101, lists Thursday hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Playa Bowls, 12660 Crabapple Road, is listed as "coming to Crabapple Market" on the market's dining page, with planned hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Check that it has opened before you plan a late açaí bowl around it.

Inside Market District Crabapple, right around the lot where one group of trucks parks, the tenants include Yum! Thai Cuisine & Bar, Vice Steak Bar, Hyde Brewing and Smash Burgers by Vice. Their Thursday hours are not posted on the district's site, so call ahead if you are building an evening around one of them.

Put together, a Wanderlust Thursday can start at a truck at 4 p.m., move to the Green for cornhole, and end at a table on Crabapple Road after the trucks have gone. The trucks change each time. The restaurants stay put.

Wanderlust is one more city event on downtown Crabapple's calendar. If you own a home within walking distance of it and want to talk about how to present that location when you sell, Mark Shoda would be glad to walk through it with you. Let's Connect.
